Just thought I'd update my post by saying that nickj's suggestion worked a treat (many thanks once again). Hi nickj, Thank you for your advice - it does seem to be drying over the knots on the underside of the gate which has been drying slightly longer. I will see how it is tomorrow and consider wiping it as you suggest. I have followed the manufacturers recommendations to the letter so far - they reckon...
