Re: Sandpaper Marks under silk paint

I think you need to face fill the whole wall with something like Dunlop ultra fine wall smoother, then sand with an orbital sander using a 120 or 240 grit disc. There's the risk that the vinyl silk will still be a bit "rubbery" and could clog the disc. You'll just have to persevere and experiment wi...

Re: Zinsser Allcoat sb for a garage door?

Allcoat is a great paint for facia's, windows etc. Haven't used it on metal surface and don't know how it would stand up on a steel garage door.
If you want to go solvent based, a good one is Alkythane 7500

Re: Roughcast

Bloody hell. Painting roughcast with a roller is tough😋.
I think because the paint is going on so thick (into the holes), it's taking ages to dry and is shrinking causing the cracking. Can only suggest another coat and really work it in with the roller.....Good luck

Re: Sanders and Extractors

You pretty much get what you pay for. Get an "M" rated extractor as the dust from sanding paint is very fine. As for sanders, one square orbital sander, and a disc random orbital should be enough. While you should get the best you can afford, don't get too hung up on getting Festool or Mirka. Manufa...

Re: Acrylic eggshell

Ditto the Helmi. Caparol is good too. Bedec Advance. Used Benjamin Moore ScuffX before xmas and was pretty impressed with the ease of use I stopped using the Big Shed brands for woodwork a some years ago, and prefer to pay a little more for quality. Having said that, things might have improved recen...

Re: external corners with anaglypta paper

Depends how straight the corners are. If they are at all wobbly, wrap around and overlap (with overlap paste), though the thickness of the paper it will show. Otherwise splice it in
