Re: Help !

Steam strippers can cause more problems than they cure, though to be honest a badly painted wall can peel as soon as it gets damp. Re: Brush marks on exterior Farrow & Ball no 16 Grey water based gloss

No matter how good modern water soluble paints are, they can't get the high gloss of oil yet. I think the brush marks are probably technique related. Get yourself a very good, soft, synthetic brush. Re: Ceiling help and advice

Vinyl Silk is a bit "rubbery", one of the reasons it's not advisable to paint Vinyl Matt over vinyl silk. It may get a bit firmer after a day or two, so you can sand the edges of the hole to get rid of the raised edge. Try and use a new bit of fine sandpaper and use a light but fast sanding motion t...

Re: Starting back up

Thanks for your ramble Bill. I think it sounds like you have a pretty good handle on your pricing already, round my way £150 p/day would be about right. As for smaller jobs, you have to be the one making the decision on the pricing, not the customer or other tradesmen. Get what you think is right. G...

Re: Starting back up

No offence intended Bill. And I don't doubt that you've done the experience as well. My guidance would still be get up to speed on what decorators in your area are doing, and work towards setting yourself up in business in the sort of work you want to do. I really don't think I can advise you on wha...
