Re: Paint wont stay on the wall problem?

This is common with acrylics, the wall is sucking the water out of the paint you've just applied. When you go over it with another pass, it picks the paint off again. Paint the wall with an acrylic primer or sealer, or paint with a thinned out coat of Diamond Eggshell, allow to dry the correct time,...

Re: Help waterbased bubbled

Could be a few things. Favourite would be moisture under the film due to previous coats not allowed long enough cure time, or painting at the end of the day so dew settling on uncured paint and getting under? Just noticed you've said after rain, so yes, paint not had long enough cure time either bet...

Re: How to quote this job

I wouldn't price a job like that from a picture. If that's the plasterboard paper hanging off, then it will probably mean at least cutting a piece out and re-skimming it or Artexing it whatever is on the rest of the ceiling. I would give him a day rate, and an estimate of how many days with the prov...

Re: Hello everyone!

Hi Matt, probably because we get phone calls all the time from paint co's wanting to conduct free market research on us. You need to get a bit smarter with interactions on social media, as well as forums (but not this one as it is not exactly busy). Questions like " What do you look for when choosin...

Re: unibond on new plastered ceilings / walls

The problem is that the ceiling is not as absorbent where the PVA is, so the paint is not soaking in and is just wiping off again when you paint it, meaning it's much thinner on the PVA. I would give the whole wall/ceiling a coat of Johnstones Ultra primer/sealer (or equivalent) which will make the ...

How many hours did it take?
How much do you charge per hour?
Do the math.
If you are unsure what to charge per hour ask around what other painters in the area charge. I would imagine it would be anywhere between £15-20 per hour.

Re: Sandpaper Marks under silk paint

I think you need to face fill the whole wall with something like Dunlop ultra fine wall smoother, then sand with an orbital sander using a 120 or 240 grit disc. There's the risk that the vinyl silk will still be a bit "rubbery" and could clog the disc. You'll just have to persevere and experiment wi...

Re: Zinsser Allcoat sb for a garage door?

Allcoat is a great paint for facia's, windows etc. Haven't used it on metal surface and don't know how it would stand up on a steel garage door.
If you want to go solvent based, a good one is Alkythane 7500
