No I just brush it.

i don't think you get as a good a finish, as the paint set up quicker if rolled first.

but others seem to like it

Well i have just been informed that my piece on there is and I quote " a load of over the top bollocks" so I guess some one from Glasgow is not impressed.

Why 2 mist coats?

only need one, thinned down to the consistency of milk.

Then spray it or get some one who can to come and spray it

External work, should be wrapped up by end of Sept and not started until end of March, as a good rule of thumb. That is irrespective of materials used.
It is just too damp/cold. plus you have shorter days. you can also lose so much time/money due to the weather.

Do externals in the spring/ summer.
