Sandpaper Marks under silk paint

Post by mxcg2016 » Fri Mar 22, 2019 7:39 pm

Hi, prior to painting a wall in my house I noticed some imperfections. As a result of this I used sandpaper in an attempt to improve the look, but I realise that I may have been a little heavy handed, which has shown through the silk vinyl paint (not previously spotted).

Is there a way to rectify this? I still have enough paint leftover and was not sure whether another coat would help or make things worse. Also, a few people have recommended that I go over the area with toupret fine filler, but again I think I need to weigh up a few options to find the most effective way forward. I have some long lines in the wall and want to hide them, advice plz :-(

I think you need to face fill the whole wall with something like Dunlop ultra fine wall smoother, then sand with an orbital sander using a 120 or 240 grit disc. There's the risk that the vinyl silk will still be a bit "rubbery" and could clog the disc. You'll just have to persevere and experiment with different grits
