Painting a marble fireplace

Hello I’m hoping someone can help me please, I have a marble fire surround and hearth in a cream colour I’m wanting to paint this white does anyone know what’s best to use I don’t want to ruin it as it’s expensive fire surround hence why don’t want to replace it many thanks

If it's already painted, Just wash it down, sand and paint.
If it's bare marble, you will want a paint for glossy surfaces. Zinsser do a primer called Bulls-eye 1-2-3 which they claim will stick to ceramic tiles. You would need to wash and degrease the surface very thoroughly, and then wipe with methylated spirits to make sure. Prime with the Bulls-eye and then paint two coats of any top coat on top. Or you could buy an oil-based adhesion primer like Tikkurila Otex and use that first instead.
As for top coats, anything that is suitable for interior wood surfaces (like doors) is good.
